Flaget's 60th Anniversary Celebration

Flaget Memorial Hospital is celebrating its 60th anniversary this month. During an employee celebration yesterday, newly appointed Bardstown Mayor Bill Sheckles signed a proclamation declaring Jan. 7-14 as "Flaget Memorial Hospital Week."

The celebration for the public will be held next Friday, Jan. 14, at 2 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Nazareth. Mass will be celebrated at the church, with the Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz presiding, with a reception following. Employees are also invited to this event.

Flaget Memorial Hospital officially opened its doors on Jan. 8, 1951, operated by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. To learn more about the hospital’s history, or to read comments from the community about their fondest memories of Flaget Memorial Hospital, visit www.Flaget.com.

The first two mothers to have babies at Flaget in January of 1951 will be attending the celebration Jan. 14. The first baby born there has passed away, but the second two babies, twin boys (now 60), will be there with their mother. The only physician still alive from the original medical staff from 1951, Dr. John Sonne, a retired surgeon who is 93, is also expected to attend.

During the celebration, Bardstown Mayor Bill Sheckles (seated, right) read and signed a proclamation declaring Jan. 7-14 "Flaget Memorial Hospital Week." Sheckles told the assembled employees that "I'm a Flaget baby." President Bruce Klockars (seated, left) shared fond memories submitted by community members.

2010 W-2s will be Available Online this Month  All Employees
Give Consent to End Paper Mailings!

Beginning on Jan. 21, 2011, 2010 W-2s will be available online from the “My Pay” tab of HR/Payroll Connection for those employees who provided consent in a prior year, or provide consent before Jan. 16, 2011.

How to provide consent?
To provide consent and access your W-2s online, go to the “My Pay” tab on HR/Payroll Connection. From the sidebar titled “W-2 Tax Statements,” on the right side of the My Pay screen, click on the link “view or request electronic delivery of your W-2.”

What it means to provide consent?
Once consent has been provided, your W-2s will be available online only for viewing and printing; W-2s will not be mailed to your home. It is only necessary to provide consent once, so if you provided consent in a prior year, you do not need to do so again.

Accessing your W-2s online provides the following benefits to you and SJHS:
• Ensuring timely retrieval of your 2010 W-2
• Filing taxes earlier
• Helping to save our environment and conserve our natural resources
• Reducing postage costs

What it means to decline to provide consent?
If you do not provide consent on or before Jan. 16, 2011, your 2010 W-2 will be mailed to your mailing address, identified on the “Personal Information” tab of HR/Payroll Connection; your W-2 forms will be mailed on or before Jan. 31, 2011. Your W-2 form will also be made available online beginning Feb. 17, 2011 to provide you access to reprint a form in case of loss, etc.

Questions?
If you have any questions in the interim, contact the HR/Payroll Connection Support Center
at 888.450.9450.

Social Security Tax Reduction  All Employees

The Social Security payroll tax deduction for employees has reduced from 6.2% to 4.2% for 2011. Employees will see the reduced withholding rates for their Social Security taxes reflected in their pay checks this year. This "payroll tax holiday" was legislated as part of the Tax Relief Act of 2010. Starting 2012, the employee portion of Social Security will revert back to the full 6.2%.

2011 Employee Savings Plan  All Employees

Fidelity Investments is now the plan administrator for our 403(b) Employee Savings Plan. In late January auto-enrollment notices will be mailed to the home addresses of those employees identified as not participating in the Employee Savings Plan. If the employee does not elect to opt-out of auto-enrollment within the 30-day window, a 3% auto-enrollment contribution will begin with the first pay check in March 2011 (first pay check after 30-day window from date of notice).

Visit the Healthy Spirit section on Inside CHI to learn more about the changes to the Employee Savings Plan now in effect, including the new auto-enrollment feature. And watch your home mail for more details.
