Saint Joseph - Jessamine Treated More than 25,000 Emergency Patients During First Year of Operation
January 2, 2010 marked the one-year anniversary of Saint Joseph - Jessamine RJ Corman Ambulatory Care Center (SJJ). When it opened its doors last year, it ended Jessamine county’s long wait for a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week emergency care facility. Prior to SJJ, residents of Jessamine County had to battle the 26 stoplights that exist between SJJ in Nicholasville and the closest Lexington hospital to receive immediate medical care. Now, they have high-quality care close to home, from emergency care to diagnostic imaging and laboratory services. Since opening a year ago, the facility has seen a steady increase in volumes demonstrating the need the facility is fulfilling in the community. In its first year of operation (calendar year 09), Saint Joseph - Jessamine has treated 25,274 patients in its Emergency Department. |

World Class Service at Saint Joseph - Berea The following excerpt is from a letter written by an out-of-town patient who recently received medical care at Saint Joseph - Berea, and happened to be an executive for a health care company that provides customer service for some of the largest insurance providers in the country. He was very complimentary about the care he received and called Saint Joseph - Berea a "World Class" facility. "I live in a heavily populated area with tons of access to ER facilities. I am currently [an executive] for a health care company that provides customer service for some of the largest insurance providers in the country. The reason I share that with you is that it takes a lot for me to sit down and write about exceptional service. I always impress upon my staff how much better we can be at providing what I call 'World Class' service, and often times feel that customer service is a phrase that is lightly used. I received services at your Berea facility due to a small accident. While the experience was traumatic for me, the service I received from the moment I stepped in your facility was in fact 'World Class.' Unfortunately, I was unable to gather all of the employees' names that I dealt with as I was somewhat discombobulated. What was so exceptional about the experience is the amount of time spent in the ER. Total time was less than 60 minutes, and that includes X-rays, CT scan and evaluation by a doctor. Not only did the staff service my needs expeditiously, they didn't miss a beat and were extremely thorough. The receptionist made me feel welcome and as if I was the only patient in the ER. The nurse who took my BP and temp was thorough and explained what I should expect during my visit. The nurse who called me back to the ER made me feel like I was visiting my mom, and the doctor (Dr. Leslie) was very thorough as well and provided personalized service which is unheard of in my area. The X-ray technician was phenomenal and considerate, knowing I was in pain and also set the expectation for length of time the process would take. She continuously asked if I was comfortable. All in all I felt as though I had stepped into a five-star resort with a lot of white walls and floors. I have taken the time to write such an e-mail twice in my life, and it is with pleasure that this city boy rates your facility as 'World Class' in service, people, and patient care!" Bravo, Saint Joseph - Berea! |
